At Feels Like Home Interiors, we believe in using our design talent to give back to this great Pittsburgh/South Hills community where we feel so blessed to live and work.
In 2009, Feels Like Home Interiors partnered with another local home staging professional, Diane Beck of Vibrant Interiors, to provide a desperately needed remodel and redesign for the Washington Women's Shelter, Inc., an area domestic abuse shelter that has been serving our community since 1984.
The shelter was delighted at the prospect of getting a makeover and yet not surprisingly had no funds available to purchase materials or pay contractors. So fundraising became our first task for the project. We created a marketing plan for the Time to Shine! Makeover Project, approached local businesses, and hosted the Generous Gems Gala Luncheon in April 2010.
So far we have raised over $50,000 for this worthwhile project and the transformation is well underway. In October of 2010, we partnered with Direct Energy who sent 20 employees for an amazing workday at the shelter where we improved the landscaping, painted the front porch and door, and completed the majority of the interior painting as well.
